This tour will let you relax in one of the more scenic areas of Banteay Chhmar. Cheung Krus Baray is a man-made water reservoir built by forced labor during the Pol Pot regime between 1975 and 1979. Despite its dark history, the baray is now treasured as a water source for the rice fields and villagers, a place to relax and a site of natural beauty filled with plentiful water lilies, other plant life, fish and birds.

Half Day Tour

♦  2 p.m. Travel to Cheung Krus Baray. You will have free time to relax in a hammock, take some photos, walk beside the baray, read a book…

♦  4 p.m. Boat ride on the baray (possibly including some fishing and swimming)

♦  6 p.m. Say goodbye to the boat owner and travel back to Banteay Chhmar

Full Day Tour combined with a Day in the Life Tour

♦ 7:30 a.m. Breakfast in your homestay prepared and delivered by CBT (or, in the CBT restaurant)

♦ 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Travel by moto or koyun to visit Kok Somrong Village to view the rice
fields, meet the villagers and help them with work such as planting vegetables, cutting cassava,
helping to make Khmer food or join in other activities that may be taking place

♦ 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Picnic lunch at Cheung Krus Baray (prepared by CBT cooking group). Afterward, you will have free time to relax in a hammock, take some photos, walk beside the baray or read a book

♦ 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Boat tour and sunset on the baray (possibly including some fishing and
swimming)

♦ 6 p.m. Say goodbye to the boat owner then travel back to Banteay Chhmar
